The City of Salvador, also known as ‘San Salvador da Bahia de Todos os Santos’ was founded in 1549. It was the first capital of the country for over 200 years, in the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries. The city is historic but modern, and townhouses and monumental buildings contrast with the modern and contemporary architecture of the city.

The sacred and the profane coexist in perfect harmony, and the numerous folk festivals complement the religious celebrations. The gastronomy is an outstanding attraction, and the exotic palm oil is essential in the main dishes of the Bahian cuisine, such as Caruru, Vatapá, Acarajé and Abará.

The biggest attractions of the old capital are its unique culture and its cheerful, hospitable and creative people. Sung in prose and verse around the world, it is the birthplace of great poets and artists.

The Historic Center of Salvador is the largest colonial architectural complex in Brazil, recognized as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. There are also historical churches and colonial houses, theaters, museums, cultural centers, shops, restaurants, bars and several other attractions.

A large and modern hotel chain with complete structure for events, congresses and conventions, numerous domestic and international flights, receptive operators of international standard, modern marinas and nautical centers, great restaurants for all standards and tastes, as well as many interesting places to visit and have fun.

No words can fully describe this City. Come and enjoy it.
